Make your own photo frame

Create your own Christmassy photo frame in just 5 easy steps.

What you will need:

  • Cardboard
  • Your bonusprint photos
  • Scissors or an exacto knife and cutting mat
  • Pen
  • Ruler
  • Glue
  • Paint, washi tapes and other decorations (optional)

Step 1: Trace around the edges of the photo onto the cardboard. On the inside of this rectangle, trace another rectangle with a ruler, that is about 2 mm smaller on all 4 sides: this will be the the inside of your frame. Then, trace another line on the outside of the rectangle you traced. This will be the outside edge of your frame. It can simply be a bigger rectangle, or we can draw cursive lines, a heart or any other shape for a more unique frame.

Step 2: Use an exacto knife to cut the inner line, making a hole that the photo will be seen through. Then cut the outside line. You now have the border of your frame.

Step 3: Use the cut out frame to trace an identical shape on another piece of cardboard. Cut it out, in the same way.

Step 4: You now have two identical shapes. Glue them together, leaving the upper side un-glued (this will be where we slide our photo in)

Step 5: Decorate according to your own preferences. To hang, simply create a hole on the back side of the frame, or use a cord to hang it as an ornament or on the wall.

Make your own letters

What you will need:

  • Cardboard
  • Scissors or an exacto knife and cutting mat
  • Letters template (or draw your own)
  • Pen
  • Ruler
  • Glue
  • Your bonusprint photos

Step 1: Cut out the letter templates and use them to draw letter outlines on cardboard. Alternatively, you can draw your own letters.

Step 2: Cut the letters out, following the lines.

Step 3: Make the 3D walls by cutting long, straight pieces of cardboard. The width of these strips will define how deep your letters will be.

Step 4: Glue the strips along the edges of the letters, covering the complete outline.

Step 5: Use photos or decoration to cover the surface of the letters and make them unique. Anything goes!

Make your own Penguin ornament

These cuties might seem like a lot of work but they’re actually quite easy to make.

What you will need:

  • Scissors or exacto knife, and cutting mat
  • Pen and paper
  • Sewing kit
  • Cord
  • Cotton wool

Step 1: First you’ll have to draw your shapes on paper and create a template. Decide which colors you would like to use and cut out the shapes.

Step 2: Sew the pieces to the front of the body and use two buttons for the eyes.

Step 3: Sew the back of the body to the back of the front body and stuff the penguin with cotton wool.

Step 4: Sew the edges closed and sew the cord on to hang it.

Enjoy creating your very own decorations! And a Merry Christmas from all at bonusprint.
